Rapini, the winter jewel.
Rapini is a little known sprout, but with high nutritional and medicinal qualities, thanks to its high concentration in Glucosinolate.
In some studies this natural compound is indicated as a high protector against some types of cancer.
It is therefore a food rich in protein and vitamins A, B9, E and C. Just boiling one hundred grams, we get one hundred and fifty percent of the daily amount needed.
It is also rich in minerals such as iron, copper, manganese, magnesium and potassium.
They are especially indicated in slimming diets for their ease in satiating hunger, with hardly any caloric intake.
Other indications are to prevent hypercholesterolemia and constipation, due to their high fiber content.
Now in winter is the best time to get some Rapini sprouts, for those of you who do not know it, it is the stalk obtained from the turnip.
The Rapini has a very pleasant taste, slightly bitter and a little spicy, but we advise you to wash them for a while in hot water, to tone it down.
